West Gippsland CMA
West Gippsland Catchment Management Authority (WGCMA) is responsible for waterway and catchment management across the south-east corner of Victoria, Australia.
Environmental planning and on-ground works are undertaken in a socially responsive, environmentally sensitive manner in compliance with relevant Victorian legislation and in consultation with stakeholders.
The WGCMA undertakes a range of activities from providing a leading role in developing the strategic direction for natural resource management in the region to undertaking operational works for river health and water quality. The authority also acts as a regulatory body for the region's floodplains and waterways.
The ability to undertake operational work distinguishes the authority from most other CMAs and provides the ability and flexibility to tackle priority projects when identified. The field staff have helped the CMA develop strong links with the community and networks that assist in their work.
