Matthew Wright
Where do you live Matthew?
Brunswick, VIC
How many people in your household?
Two
Describe your home and energy systems.
100 year old Edwardian House, with Solar Hot Water and Solar Photovoltaics, Insulation has been added in the walls and roof.
What have you done to reduce your greenhouse emissions?
Vegetarian diet. Using public transport and riding my mountain bike, bike "bob trailer" for carrying up to 50kgs of cargo behind my bike.
Where have you saved the most energy?
Heating, lighting, riding my bike. And of course solar electricity and Solar hot water.
What are your future plans to save energy?
Eliminate vehicle use by jointly owning legacy car. This car is from 1976 and it's already exhausted its usefull life by most measures, so if it's hardly used it's better than the embodied energy of acquiring a new one. I want to add more solar panels.
Why have you become climate positive?
Because I believe in creating a movement, making a statement and educating many people as to what we have to do and what sort of cost to zero our emissions, and then actively draw down atmospheric carbon.
How do you think we, our leaders and broader community should tackle Climate Change?
We need the government to work through an internationally recognised process to aim to zero our emissions, and then actively drawing down atmospheric carbon. Recognising carbon debt and ecoequity.
Thanks, we're sure your story will help inspire others.
