Biodiversity policy
Key features of our ecological restoration policy:
- Revegetation projects are Kyoto compliant: Land that was non-forest prior to the 1st of January 1990, and will have over 20% canopy cover.
- In contrast to single-species plantations, revegetation undertaken by Climate Positive on behalf of our clients aims to replicate the diverse native plant communities that formerly occupied the area being replanted.
- Climate Positive aims to restore ecologically diverse forest communities using locally occurring tree and shrub species.
- Only local provenance indigenous species will be used in revegetation, grown from seed collected close to the area to be planted.
- When planning revegetation, Climate Positive will consider how best to restore the habitat requirements of local native fauna and to link areas of existing native vegetation.
- No poison baits will be used to control grazing by native herbivores.
Aboriginal cultural heritage values will be protected in consultation with traditional custodians. - Climate Positive will minimise herbicide use during the establishment and maintenance of revegetated areas.
- Our staff are protected with quality occupational health and safety practices.
We employ state-of-the-art technology and efficient work practices. - Our process includes education of landholders and community. We also promote landholders who participate.
