Skydive Tasmania
Briefly describe your workplace and business.
Skydive Tasmania offer the experience of skydiving to people from all walks of life, from those who just want to try it once, to those who enjoy it as a sport. We operate in two stunning locations in Tasmania, Hobart and Swansea.
What have you done to reduce your CO2 emissions?
Skydive Tasmania, with the help of Climate Positive, have measured the emissions associated with each sky dive trip we undertake. We also minimise the number of trips made by the plane by organising our booking to ensure that seats are filled.
How has your organisation worked together to reduce carbon emissions?
There are also a number of smaller steps we have taken within the business to reduce our footprint. We ensure that all electrical items are switched off at close of business. We minimise car usage by riding bikes or walking on errands. When possible we print double sided on recycled paper using recycled ink cartridges. All of our waste is sorted and what can be recycled is. Finally when possible we communicate with our customers electronically to reduce the use of paper and to reduce the emissions related to postage.
What plans do you have for future reductions?
When we buy our own aircraft we aim to buy one that is best suited to our business. To help us achieve this we have been researching aircraft types and models, modifications to make them more efficient, engine efficiency and fuels.
Why have you become Climate Positive?
We have always been very conscious of the fact that we are in business which relies heavily on fossil fuels. Due to the nature of skydiving and our reliance on aircraft we have felt it only necessary to work towards our business becoming climate positive.
