India Unbound is a licensed Australian travel agent and tour operator specialising in travel to India.

How has India Unbound partnered with Climate Positive to reduce the carbon footprint of your clients?

India Unbound has partnered with Climate Positive to calculate the emissions associated with our clients' travel to and within India. India Unbound calculates the emissions on a case by case basis for each booking, based on the number of travellers and the amount of travel they will do (for example, the number of return international flights, number and length of domestic flights, and the type of vehicle and number of days of travel in India). At the time of booking, India Unbound clients can then choose to make an additional payment to offset all or some of the carbon emissions from their trip.

What plans do you have for future reductions?

At this stage we believe travel companies have a duty to make travellers aware of the carbon emissions that result from their travel, and to offer them the choice of offsetting those emissions. As the travelling public becomes more aware of the need to offset emissions, there will be a greater willingness to contribute to carbon offset programs. Hopefully this awareness will reach a level where travellers see carbon offsetting as just another cost of travel, with travel companies potentially building it into the overall price of travel.
